Important Changes to NHS Wales Dentistry

From 1st April 2026 the welsh government will introduce a new NHS dental contract which will significantly change how NHS dental care is delivered across Wales.
What does this mean?

• Dentists will need to work differently to meet the new contract requirements


• The 4 band-charging system will be replaced by a range of care packages


• Patient charges are expected to increase
  
  Despite this uncertainty, we are doing everything we can to prepare for a smooth transition by


• working through the reform programme in detail


• installing new software systems


• planning how to best adapt our services while continuing to prioritise patient care
